In the Month of February the Newtown Fire Association and Newtown Emergency Services Department responded to 46 fire/rescue emergency calls. The average number of Firefighters responding per call was 21, with a total of 15 hours and 30 minutes of in service time for the month.
The following is an overview of February responses from the past month: | |
2/3/08 @ 10:46pm: Companies were dispatched to the Route 332 Bypass and Penns Trail for a traffic accident with a report of people trapped. Rescue 45 and Engine 55 arrived to find a three vehicle accident with 5 injuries. Crews were in service to remove the vehicle doors using hydraulic tools, secure power, control fluids and protect the patients and rescuers from possible fire. Fire crews also assisted several EMS crews working on scene. In service, 1 hour and 5 minutes, 32 Firefighters responded.

1/13/08 @ 3:44pm: Firefighters were dispatched to assist Station 35 (Wrightstown) on a traffic accident at Route 413 and Worthington Mill Road. Engine 55 responded and was assigned to provide fire protection to the crews and occupants of the cars while EMS provided care on scene. In service 26 minutes, 25 Firefighters responded to both stations, Rescue 45 provided coverage at Station 55 until the Engine Company returned from the Wrightstown call.

2/12/08 @ 2:58pm: Firefighters from the Newtown Fire Assn. and Newtown Emergency Services were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the 400 block of Marion Drive. On arrival Engine 55-1 and Ladder 45 were placed in service to control fire extension which had taken place in the area of the chimney and inside near the fire place. Firefighters removed sections of the interior wall, extinguished fire and performed property protection to the inside of the home. In service , 45 minutes with 21 firefighters responding.

2/14/08 @ 10:11am:Again, Firefighters from Newtown Fire Assn. and Newtown Emergency Services were dispatched to the 500 block of Linton Hill Road for a reported structure fire. On arrival of FM-252 (D. Harris) he reported light smoke showing from the exterior of the residence. Engine 55-1 arrived on scene and began a quick interior fire attack to the structure while Ladder 45 was assigned ground ladder duties and to assist Engine 55-1 with heat and smoke ventilation. Engine 73 ( Northamption) and Engine 55 arrived on location to established additional water supplies and assisted with fire ground activities. The fire was placed under control in 12 minutes. Crews remained on location to assist the Fire Marshal with his investigation and to secure the scene. Firefighters were in service, 1 hour and 23 minutes, 28 Firefighters responding.

2/20/08 @ 7:34pm : Newtown Firefighters assisted the Langhorne Middletown Fire Company ( Station 21) and numerous other Departments in the area with a 2 alarm fire in the 500 block of Poppy Court located in Middletown Township. Crews assisted the Departments with fire ground activities and fire suppression. Ladder 45 and Rescue 45 were in service for 2 hours and 33 minutes with 35 Firefighters responding on both the apparatus and to man both station 45 and 55 while the crews were out of our first due area.

2/22/08 @ 4:30am: Ladder 45 was dispatched to assist Wrightstown (Station 35) with a reported chimney fire in the 100 block of Buchman Drive. Firefighters from Ladder 45 assisted with property protection, laddering the building to check the chimney and assist the Wrightstown Firefighters. In service, 1 hour and 15 minutes, 17 Firefighters responded.

2/25/08 @ 2:28pm: Crews were dispatched for a dwelling fire in the 300 block of Woods Edge Place. Engine 55-1 (NESD) arrived on location and reported a “working fire”. Engine 55-1 and Ladder 45 perform fire suppression operations holding the fire to the room of fire origin. Newtown fire crews were assisted by Langhorne (Engine 21), Northampton ( Engine 3) and EMS units for Penndel Middletown ( Squad 167). The fire is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshalls Office.
